SkyBitz Further Strengthens Market Leadership with New Remote Asset Management & Tracking Solution
Patented Global Locating System Technology Lowers TCO and Decreases Complexity Compared to Competitors Traditional GPS-Based Systems
SkyBitz®, the leading remote asset tracking and information management solutions provider, today announced the launch of its newest asset management solution based on its patented Global Locating System (GLS) technology. The SkyBitz GLS400 Mobile Terminal is the next generation of the company’s industry-leading machine-to-machine (M2M) asset tracking solution that provides a lower overall total cost of ownership (TCO) through increased power efficiency, reliability, ruggedness and service life. The solution delivers the visibility required to optimize operations within transportation, oil and gas, chemical, intermodal shipments, government and other markets that rely on heavy equipment or remote assets.
The SkyBitz GLS400 was taken through more than 160 independent tests to ensure the highest product quality. Its unique electrical design increases power efficiency to extend service life beyond that of Global Positioning System (GPS)-based tracking devices. To ensure ease of maintenance, this new mobile terminal is powered by eight off-the-shelf "AA" lithium batteries, allowing for easy replacement without the hassles of battery packs or expert installation. In addition, the new terminal is made of weatherproof Lexan polycarbonate, which has been used in the space helmets worn on the moon by Astronauts as well as in stock-car windshields and helmets worn by NASCAR drivers. Lexan was chosen specifically to ensure that the terminal was built tough enough to withstand the harshest environments.
"SkyBitz understands the unique business requirements of remote asset management our customers need. We are dedicated to developing and making improvements to leading-edge technologies to make it easier for our customers to implement and maintain these technologies for their business operations," said Homaira Akbari, SkyBitz President and CEO. "The release of the SkyBitz GLS400 Mobile Terminal underscores our commitment to developing and delivering solutions that enable customers to effectively reduce their capital expenditures and increase their asset utilization."
SkyBitz’s patented GLS technology provides all the benefits of GPS wireless tracking systems without the high-power consumptions of on-board calculations. Instead, the SkyBitz Service Operation Center performs positioning calculations centrally and is able to calculate position in mere seconds, dramatically reducing power consumption and the cost and inconvenience associated with frequent battery replacement. The SkyBitz InSight Web application requires no complex integration or software installation, has 50 separate standard reports and custom reporting features, as well as an adaptable application program interface (API) that can accept data feeds from any other system.
