Five Questions with Past ATA Chairman and current CEO of Watkins Shepard - Ray Kuntz
I had the chance to catch up with Ray Kuntz the other day to ask him a few question on CSA 2010, as well as the future of the trucking sector in the U.S. Ray served as the Chairman of the American Trucking Association from June 2007 through October 2008, and currently is the CEO of Watkins Shepard. Ray is also a board member of SkyBitz. Here is what Ray had to say.
Q: Where do you see the U.S. trucking market going in the next 12 months?
A: I think we are clearly in a recovery period. We are coming out of a very long recession where a lot of capacity disappeared. As the economy recovers, we are going to see an industry that lacks capacity – which is a great thing for those who survived. Pricing has turned and companies will be more profitable. But the new problem over the next 12 months is that the driver shortage is going to be very severe.
