SkyBitz and McLeod Software Add New Asset Management Features in Latest Release of LoadMaster
Users will Gain Deeper Insights to Their Assets and Cargo from One Integrated System

HERNDON, Va. – May 28, 2013 -- SkyBitz®;, the leader in remote asset tracking and information management solutions, and McLeod Software, a leading provider of transportation management software, announced new capabilities in the integrated asset tracking management module now available to customers. With this newest integration, users are provided with visibility within McLeod Software’s LoadMaster Version 11.2 of enhanced SkyBitz asset information. Customers will be able to view auto-populated information such as the current and historical location of a trailer, last drop date and time, cargo empty or loaded, door opened or closed, and trailers starting and stopping motion.

SkyBitz and McLeod Software first made integrated asset information available through LoadMaster in 2006 and an enhanced version was introduced with the McLeod Software Winter 2011 release. This latest version introduces a new set of features to offer an even more robust asset tracking management solution.

“We pride ourselves in coming up with more efficient and creative ways to run our operations while meeting our customers’ demands,” said Greg Ayala, Vice President of Operations & Sales, Spirit Truck Lines. “In our line of work, the faster we can get a trailer assigned to a load, the more utilization we get, and the more business we can accommodate with the optimal number of trailers. Being able to view our dispatch and trailer status information in one place helps us to make more accurate plans and changes to better serve our customers.”

The enhanced, integrated SkyBitz information now available through LoadMaster can help companies make more informed decisions about their business by allowing them to:

  • See the most recent location of their trailer, enabling them to quickly identify available trailers for load assignment, and eliminating any “lost” trailers.
  • View the nearest landmark or location of a trailer along with the date and time.
  • Manage the trailer pool using the actual drop date of when a trailer has been disconnected from the tractor.
  • Identify highlighted location discrepancies reported by both the mobile terminal and by user-inputs for quick reconciliation.
  • Check battery status of each asset’s mobile terminal for better maintenance planning.
  • Take action regarding trailer use based on actual trailer status and location information
  • Determine when loads have been delivered to unplanned locations using the cargo empty/loaded and location data.
  • Improve control of trailers being utilized by their customers for unauthorized loads through the use of exception based reporting.

“There is a growing demand for more actionable information regarding asset location and status through shared data from multiple technology providers. As the amount of data increases, having faster, more convenient access to that information will be a big competitive advantage for transportation companies,” said Henry Popplewell, Senior Vice President and General Manager, SkyBitz. “With this latest integration, customers can view key asset information within McLeod’s LoadMaster to help improve their operational performance.”

Prior to integration, users only had visibility to SkyBitz generated asset information from within SkyBitz InSight. These enhancements provide the ability to identify the availability of trailers within the closest proximity for a load pick up, reducing empty miles and occurrences of lost trailers. Customers currently using the McLeod LoadMaster interface to SkyBitz can contact their McLeod sales staff for a quote on installation of the new features.

“We are pleased to offer our customers a deeper, more comprehensive set of features in our off-the-shelf integration solution with SkyBitz,” said Mark Cubine, Vice President of Marketing for McLeod Software. “The ability to manage trailer pools efficiently and realize better capacity utilization for individual trailer assets is of growing importance for our trucking customers. The functionality offered in this new integration solution gives McLeod Software customers an even better set of tools to accomplish those goals.”
